Math is beautiful! (and here's proof!)

Those of you that follow MLB's blog have probably already seen this.  Those of you who haven't seen it are in for a real, 3-minute, 44-second treat!

I grew up appreciating how mathematical relationships control our universe.  Nautilus shells on the beach, how airplane wings and flys' wings work, why and how those airplane wings can cause contrails to form in the sky, how far away in light years the Orion Nebula is (and why "light years" is a measure of distance, not time), and so many more relationships in everything I saw and did.

I fired off model rockets; watched a large meteoroid skim the atmosphere; saw the Mercury and Apollo spaceships go up on TV, no matter what time they went; watched living, breathing humans bound around on the moon; and marveled at the beautiful centers of flowers, especially sunflowers and their geometric patterns.

None of that should surprise anyone.  You all know I'm a nerdy geek.  I am aware that most people never think about that stuff in their daily lives.

So, thanks to MLB and his readers, I get to share with you a little math in a way I think you'll enjoy it, and it won't even take 4 minutes of your life.

A gentleman by the name of Cristóbal Vila created this video. His work and the works of his studio are outstanding!

When you have reached the end of the film, you will have the option to see other videos through YouTube.  Please, look at some of them, too.

Enjoy!  (Make sure you click in the bottom right corner to expand this to the size of your monitor!  If you want to see it in full HD, click the "360p" at the bottom right and select "780p")
