It's time - Please Vote! Please Vote SMARTLY!
I state in the very first post of this blog that I will do my best to avoid any conversations about politics. Up to now, I have done a pretty good job (two years, four months - longer than I thought!). Today really is no exception, except I am applying critical thinking to politics (huhh??!!) and adding some comedy.
The folks at Babelgum have posted a video playing havoc with some of the ignorant things being said by political candidates all over this country, mostly (but not exclusively limited to) members of the so-called Tea Party. While I have no quarrel with some of the basic tenets of that party, I DO have major problems with some of the candidates and their scary inability (or refusal) to comprehend the values and basic documents on which this nation was founded.
So I ask you to be very thoughtful when you decide who to vote for. We continue to have little choice in the quality of people who wish to run for office at the state and national levels, but there are some who either stand out as better than others (for whatever reasons and whatever views), and there are others who stand out as dangerous to each and every one of us.
So, here is the video. File it under the heading "Willful Ignorance", and take it as a cautionary tale. It is comedy, but as is much of that genre, it's based on reality.
I gotta say, it scares the heck out of me.
(At this time, I don't know how to embed the video here, so you will have to click on the link below. When I figure it out, I will make it native to this post.)
